Another Italian restaurant in South Beach? This one’s got the star-quality and celebrity touch with the name brand of multi-talented and award-winning director/producer/actor Danny DeVito - who just received an award for his outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema at the 42nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, where he is presenting the movie “The Good Night.”directed by Jake Paltrow.

The buzz is out… It has hardly been open a month and DeVito is already serving two and three seatings per night.

South Florida restaurateur David Manero, whose family has owned and operated successful restaurant businesses since 1950, and is credited for Sopra, Gotham City, Shore Restaurant and the popular Palm Beach enoteca Vic & Angelo’s, has partnered with the famed actor and with Michael Brauser to create a $6 million, 10,000 square feet, two-story, indoor/outdoor fine dining restaurant. “Danny shares in our vision for a quality night on the town,” said Manero. Executive Chef Francis Casciato and his culinary team bring a traditional Italian Chop House concept to DeVito South Beach with contemporary Italian menu items such as housemade Burrata Fresca ($10 to 22 for Burrata alla Caprese); hot and cold antipasti -- from Zuppa di Pesce ($16) and Clams gratinéed ($22) to fried calamari with a fiery arrabiata sauce ($22) and ricotta stuffed zucchini blossoms ($20)--; oven grilled fish and perfectly seared meats, and the Global Steak Flight , the restaurant’s signature dish with premium Kobe steak from three different regions of the world -- Japanese Kobe Beef, Australian Wagyu Rollatini and American Kobe Flat Iron ($325 for two or three).

There are salads aplenty ($12 to $22), sides like grilled artichoke hearts, and prepared meats and fish such as Bistecca di maiale or Kurobota Pork cutlets ($35), organic lemon chicken ($28) and Mediteranean sea bass ($42). For pasta lovers the menu features The Porcini Trio with a selection of Porcini gnocchi, Porcini Bolognese and Porcini fritti ($32).

Desserts ($10 - $18) are a show stopper with an outrageous Festa di San Gennaro – baby blue cotton candy topping banana Zeppole and caramel cheesecake lollipops, and most traditional but no less rich chocolate flight; Sicilian cannoli and a pistachio semifreddo topping an amaretto torte with flambeed brandied peaches and Marsala mascarpone..

DeVito South Beach offers an extensive list of Italian wines for every budget, and an impeccable service that lives up to the comment Danny DeVito made at the opening press conference: "To put my family name on a restaurant is monumental for me. My family and my friends are what I value most in life.”

Lynn Interior Designs (L.I.D) was in charge of the renovation of the chic, warm and lively two-story location with a private elevator, reclaimed Chicago brick walls, Venetian chandeliers and Italian marble tabletops. There is an open kitchen, a Venetian-like bar, a communal dining table, a cantina-like wine room, framed plasma televisions running the latest Danny DeVito TV shows, fireplaces, a DJ booth and terraces on both floors.
