For pet lovers everywhere, finding a place to leave your four-legged best friend can add a touch of unwanted stress What about people like me who had to evacuate her house for a termite tenting, for three days? First, it was emptying the house of all comestibles, wines, cosmetics, etc… for which we found a fantastic solution. Not willing to bother well-meaning friends, we found a nearby air-conditioned storage who charged us $40 for one week, including the purchase of a strong padlock. For ourselves, it was a nearby hotel with the indispensable access to WiFi so I could continue working. We made sure Mitsou the Cat was out of the house before the fumigators came, but we left her to her own devices and made sure that she had food and water in the shaded part of the patio. But what about Laslo the Puppy? Again, we like to keep our friends. Having one of them care for the rambunctious, spoiled little brat of a dog for as long as three days would have signed any long lasting friendship off forever. So we decided to leave him in a dog hotel. Mind you, a well-known, expensive one. We are still sorry we did that. Laszlo, being the hyperactive dog he is at 11 months-old, came back with a gash in his head, no responsibility of the dog-hotel owners… Next time I need to get away from my house with my pets, I’ll head the advice of www.oyster.com who has compiled a list of the top 5 pet friendly resorts that go above and beyond to ensure 100% pet satisfaction. “We do relatively deep investigations of pet friendliness on the hotels we cover,” said Elie Seidman, CEO of Oyster.com. “Many of our reporters are pet owners themselves who know how to spot a hotel thats gone the extra mile.” For visitors to Miami who don’t have the heart to leave their little darlings behind here are hotels that offered the best amenities for pets such as pampering services, pet beds, off-limit hotel areas, and additional fees.
